WELCOME to the web site of Markham Nature Park & Arboretum located at 1202 La Vista Avenue, in the heart of Concord. map

Markham Nature Park and Arboretum is a 16-acre island of natural beauty near the heart of downtown Concord. People who visit for the first time are surprised that such a lovely, natural park exists inside the city limits. Markham is Concord's secret garden . . . still waiting to be discovered by many residents of the area.

The park is being developed by the City or Concord in partnership with a citizen-run, non-profit organization called Markham Regional Arboretum Society. Governed by a Board of Directors and supported by community volunteers, the Society raises money, creates plans, and oversees the development of the park.

Along with donations and grants, funds to develop the park come from Markham Nursery plant sales. Volunteers grow plants from seeds and cuttings. These are offered to the public for sale on select Saturdays throughout the year. In addition, the Nursery at Markham is open every Tuesday morning from 9 until noon.

MISSION STATEMENT of the Markham Regional Arboretum Society
To partner with the City of Concord in developing the Markham Nature Park and Arboretum into a unique educational sanctuary for the demonstration, collection, and preservation of trees and other plants which are adapted to the inland, maritime influenced, Northern California region.
