Markham Nature Park and Arboretum is a 16-acre island of natural beauty near the heart of downtown Concord. People who visit for the first time are surprised that such a lovely, natural park exists inside the city limits. Markham is Concord's "secret garden"— still waiting to be discovered by residents of the area.
The park is under development by the City or Concord in partnership with a citizen-run, non-profit organization called Markham Regional Arboretum Society. Governed by a Board of Directors, the Society raises money, creates plans, and oversees the development of the park.
MISSION STATEMENT:To partner with the City of Concord in developing the Markham Nature Park and Arboretum into a unique educational location for the demonstration, collection, and preservation of trees and other plants which are adapted to the inland, maritime-influrenced, Northern California region. |
